Ed (Lynn)'s Story
Ed is from Auburn, California. He has been married twice. First..., 1975 to 1998 and had two wonderful children in that time, a girl and boy. Married again in 2002 to present, very happy and gained a great step son.
My schooling includes Healdsburg High School. Later attended Santa Rosa Junior College.
Profession: I worked for EMCO Electric, Boise Cascade, and Windsor Vineyards while in the Healdsburg area. Started my freelance house design/drafting/plan business(1972), which I did as a side business for about 50 years. Designed and drafted over 100 successful new home and remodel projects in that time.
After moving to Yuba City, I have been in the commercial structural steel business since 1973 to the present. In that time I worked for Yetter Steel Inc. for 31 years as the estimator, project manager, and detailing draftsman. At that point became co-owner of the 25-plus-employee corporation. Sold the company in 2006 to wind my career down a bit. I am now semi-retired, I am a self employed contractor and have licenses in structural steel and concrete. Established Decker Detailing Services in 2006 specializing in commercial structural steel supply, project brokering, steel buildings, consulting, miscellaneous steel design, estimating and detail drafting. Completed well over 1,500 projects so far in my 50 plus years in the construction business. I have had a very blessed career and have always enjoyed my experiences in this field.
I still play golf ( with a single-digit handicap ) and design and fly high performance model airplanes free flights in my spare time for fun and relaxation. Had to lay off golf for a few years due to an arm injury..., but am going to start playing again soon.

Golf, Varsity team member 3 years,1969, 70, 71, League Champions All 3 years, 2nd place low medalist Healdsburg tournament 1970, most points with no loss of points in match league play 1970, 1st place low medalist Healdsburg tournament 1971, Team Captain, most points with only 2 lost points in match league play 1971, Have played to a scratch or to a single digit handicap since 1968 to present and have made 2 hole-in-one's in that time.
Participated in the Scouting Program, and went through all Cub scout ranks into Boy Scouts and attained Life Scout rank and 18 merit badges, just 3 from Eagle. (have always been sorry I did not finish getting Eagle rank).
Always being self employed in one way or another, while also working a full time job.
Participated in the United States FAI free flight team selection finals 3 times. At one time was in the top 100 fliers in FAI F1C free flight the world.
Won the Northern California Free Flight Council AMA Gas Championship in 2015.., 2016..., 2017..., 2018..., 2019 and 2020.
Currently in my spare time designing and building C AMA GAS models to go after the National records in that category. Also designed and built models for multiple other classes. Just got two models my Dad had designed and built in 1955 entered as a recognized Nostalgia model by the National Free Flight Society in 2017. Also put 11 other models into the Golden Age 1/2 A Category.., 8 of mine and 3 of friends and family.
Retired now..., enjoying life with my friends and family...., flying my models..., golfing sometimes and still do a little business....!!
